Privacy notice

The Music Maker runs themusicmaker.nl. This notice explains what personal data we handle when you visit the site, buy in the shop, use the artist portal or get in touch, and what you can ask of us. Questions go to info@themusicmaker.nl.

What we collect and why

When you email us or send the Apply to join or Send a brief form, we receive what you fill in (such as your name, email address, links and your message) and use it to reply to you and, if we work together, to run that project.

When you buy in the shop, the order details you enter (name, email address, billing details and, for physical items, your delivery address) are used to deliver your purchase and keep our accounts.

When you subscribe to the Journal by email, we keep your email address, your first name if you give it, and your consent, and use them only to send you the Journal. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to remove you.

Artists signed to the label can be invited to the artist portal. Your account holds your email address, your name and a password that only Wix stores. In the portal we show you your releases, their streaming figures and your statements, and we keep the requests you send there (such as a payout or a marketing proposal) together with your email address, so we can answer them.

On the home page you can choose your way in: listen, for brands or for artists. We count those choices without knowing who made them: which way and which page you picked, the website you came from, campaign tags in the link, the kind of device, your browser language and whether you have chosen before. We store no name, no IP address and no cookie with it.

Who processes it for us

The site, the forms, the shop, the cart and the checkout run on Wix. Wix.com Ltd. processes visitor, form and order data on our behalf and at our direction; its policy is at wix.com/about/privacy. Payments are handled through the Wix checkout and the payment provider you choose there.

If you accept analytics, Google Ireland Limited processes the visit data that Google Analytics collects; its policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

Cookies

Essential cookies, always on, because the site needs them to work:

• wixSession: security and core site function, up to 12 months.
• client-session-bind and server-session-bind: protection of the site's connections, for your visit only.
• ssr-caching: page rendering, up to 24 hours.
• consent-policy: remembers your cookie choice, 12 months.
• __cf_bm: protection of the site against automated traffic, 30 minutes.

Your browser also keeps two small settings on your own device: the way you chose last time on the home page (tmm-way), from which we only learn whether you have chosen before, and whether its sound is on (tmm-sound). Clearing your browser data removes them.

Analytics cookies, only after you press Accept analytics:

• bSession: Wix Analytics visit measurement, 30 minutes.
• _ga and _ga_4C3F8C9201: Google Analytics visit measurement, up to 2 years.

We do not use advertising cookies, and Google Analytics runs with its advertising features switched off. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

Spotify players

Music players on the site load from Spotify only when you press Listen. From that moment Spotify receives your request and may set its own cookies; Spotify's privacy policy applies to that player.

How long we keep it

Emails and form messages: as long as needed to answer and follow up, and no longer than two years after our last contact unless we work together. Orders and invoices: seven years, as Dutch bookkeeping rules require. Journal subscriptions: until you unsubscribe. Artist portal accounts and requests: for as long as we work together, and statements for seven years, as Dutch bookkeeping rules require.

Your rights

You can ask us for access to your data, to correct it, to erase it, to restrict its use or to receive it in a portable form, and you can object to its use. Write to info@themusicmaker.nl and we will answer within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; in the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
